“I remember applying for an internship at Dunzo, some time post finishing my engineering. I landed an internship for the role of Data Tagging which was an extremely manual task but the fun culture of Dunzo, especially the early #457 days totally made up for the monotony. Back then it needed one person to manually “feed” a bunch of data for different categories which is what get’s auto-tagged today. After that, I worked in Community Operations but in my mind, I knew I always wanted to end up as a designer. I juggled a design course along with the super demanding schedule of operations at Dunzo. When I got the chance of moving to QA on the engineering side, I thought “why not?!” and especially after running so many orders and monitoring users, I think I came with a lot more on-ground, real-time insight into what users faced. I had almost completed my design course by then and was looking to do something in design. Working at Dunzo is a lot like working with clay — you can mold your journey and create these different roles along the way. It’s barely been 5 months in my new role and not only am I designing it, but owning the entire Product Page for Dunzo web. That to me is a dream come true.”

“Close to 2 years back, I tried my hand at several jobs but nobody really wanted to give me one as I was still a student pursuing Bcom. After my father passed away, the responsibility to take care of my mother and my younger sister fell upon me and I almost gave up and planned to return to my hometown to pursue agriculture when I got the chance to work for Dunzo. At Dunzo, I’ve had the chance to learn so much and started off by doing documentation for HR & Legal, picking up and delivering documents, and assisting the admin team. Slowly I also started taking care of the travel desk for a bit and even helped manage Kabeer’s (Dunzo Co-founder & CEO) travels which was all new to me. Today, I work with the legal team as a paralegal supporting all compliance and documentation needed while also balancing a distance education course in Bcom. I’m crazy about cricket when I’m not working and recently learned to make tea during the lockdown. When it matters the most With home deliveries playing an integral role in us maintaining social distancing, we had to ensure the safety of our delivery partners who are now the lifelines of our society. Keeping this in mind we had to take some precautionary measures, starting with sending out clear communications to our partners and merchants around social distancing and hygiene. Here are some of the step we had adopted to ensure that our deliveries are safe: Protective gear for our partners Masks and gloves have been provided to our delivery partners for their safety. Sanitizers at key locations We identified key merchant locations and provided stations with hand sanitizers for our partners to use. Temperature checks to ensure safety Our delivery partners take regular temperature checks and are advised to maintain social distancing. No contact delivery To ensure the safety of our users and partners, we have no contact delivery as an option. Encouraging the use of Aarogya Setu app Partners have been asked to download the Aarogya Setu app, the contact-tracing app built by the Indian government, to help them assess their risk of catching the Coronavirus, on the basis of user’s interactions with others, using Bluetooth technology. Maybe you like to read a book or maybe you like to dance while you cook, the best that we can all do is to stay indoors and stay safe. 2020 has indeed been a defining year for all delivery businesses in India. The global health crisis and the ensuing lockdowns have led home deliveries to make the transition from being a lifestyle choice to a lifeline. Dunzo has seen an increasing number of customers embrace its safety and convenience during this challenging period. With the majority of the population being shut indoors for a larger part of the year, we’ve observed that the ordering habits of Indians have seen a distinct shift as compared to the preceding years. Altered routines and a change in priorities have caused a perceptible distinction in consumer behavior. From Condoms, IPills, and Pregnancy tests being the highest orders in the Medicine category, to most cities ordering cat food over dog food, to the recent surge in demand for healthy alternatives, some of these data points certainly stood out from the usual. We decided to compile a few intriguing insights from the year gone by, to throw light on how India got it, Dun, in 2020. Enumerated below, is the list of interesting patterns in user orders that we observed last year. It has most certainly been a year of surprises, and Dunzo users certainly did not disappoint with their buying habits. Irrespective of what the next year holds, Dunzo shall continue to serve in all its geographies with the single goal of bringing the magic of convenience to every home, and hopefully workplaces too, very soon.

“I feel that the last 4 years at Dunzo have really nurtured a sense of growth and maturity in me. The folks at Dunzo who initially joined the team (including me) were kids right out of college and so you can imagine the early days had that “college vibe”, where work was super hectic but it was accompanied by cricket in the lawn and hallways, music sessions, table tennis and getting yelled at by neighbors for sometimes (read: always) being noisy. That pretty much summed up the first year at Dunzo. By the second year, we had grown massively and I got to work with more smart, talented people from across the industry. I learned core operations and what having a data-driven approach means in the logistics business. I still remember the night when we first hit our 500 orders milestone for night operations and the journey to reach that number was not an easy one. Staying relentless on our promise with every single order has been the cornerstone of the work I’ve done here. My current role is perhaps the most challenging of all and I love the thrill of conquering those challenges every day. I’m so proud of how far we’ve come, but I’m even more proud of the fact that who we are and what we stand for remains unchanged”.

“Coming from Guwahati, Bangalore was totally foreign to me. Though I’ve had my share of hurdles, the people of Dunzo have embraced me and made me feel at home all these years. Working at Dunzo is like “Dhoom machale” for me, every day. In fact, while working on the User Experience for Delivery Partners, I have built a great rapport with Dunzo Delivery Partners and believe that they are the pillars of this business. Every time I have a Dunzo order running, I prepare tea for the partner and have a chai session with them at home to understand their day and their pain points. Today, when they know it’s my order they call me and tell me “keep chai ready, I’ll be there soon’’. The initial days of lockdown were very difficult for all of us and so at that time I immediately made a table in my diary of all the partners and their corresponding areas of residence to create a sort of task force. This was a time when a lot of firefighting was needed and I’m glad all the information I had came in handy to users who really needed our services. I’m obsessed with providing the best user experience be it for our users or our partners. Today I lead a team of 38 and my only mantra has been — “Chase your curiosity””
